Hi! I’m Mary Alexander Satterfield, also known as The Hungry Hooker! For those of you who may be new here, let me fill you in on the backstory behind the name. My maiden name was “Hooker” and I grew up in a big family that loved food and placed all things culinary at the center of our gatherings and experiences. Both of my parents have a heritage steeped in food; my mom comes from a beloved Greek family and my dad has deep Southern roots, mainly from generations of family from Mississippi.

Food was always something we bonded over as a family, primarily because that’s exactly how my parents were raised, as well. Food and family is the mission and heart behind The Hungry Hooker.

I’m married to my high school sweetheart, Court, and he is my biggest fan and most skilled taste tester. Each recipe has Court’s stamp of approval, which means a great deal as he’s a recovering picky eater! Here at The Hungry Hooker, our readers can find healthy, yet delicious and simple, recipes that will bring families both big and small together at the table.

ABOUT THE HUNGRY HOOKER

The Hungry Hooker began as a simple love of food, and it wasn’t until 2020 that my newfound passion for sharing my recipes with others was born. I was newly married, cooking for my husband, and we weren’t dining out because of the pandemic.

Soon, I started posting pictures of my homemade meals; and one thing led to another, as people of all ages started making my recipes and sharing them with others. Cooking for loved ones (and new friends!) gives me so much joy. This experience has been such a blessing and I’m honored to share it with all of you.
