Ingredients

Tuna
  • 1 lb ahi tuna steak
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp ginger powder
  • salt, to taste
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 3 tsp sesame oil
  • green onion, for garnish
Dipping Sauce
  • 3 tbsp coconut aminos
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

Instructions

  1. prepare the tuna by drizzling and rubbing 2-3 tsp sesame oil onto the fish.
  2. season with ginger powder, garlic powder, salt, and sesame seeds.
  3. in a large cast-iron skillet over high heat, drizzle 1 tsp sesame oil, and sear the tuna steak. cook on each side for 2-3 minutes or until a crust forms. *NOTE: make sure the middle is still rare*
  4. prepare the dipping sauce by combining coconut aminos, sesame oil, rice vinegar, red pepper flakes, sesame seeds, and minced garlic cloves. stir to combine.
  5. cut the tuna into thin slices and serve with fresh green onion. dip into the sweet garlic sauce and enjoy!
